Silkwinder Set - These lovely silkwinders are made of ivory.   They are quite beautiful and it is very rare to have a matched set of six winders.   The only condition problem is a bit of yellowing around the edges.                  $385.00

Pincushion - This hand carved vegetable ivory pincushion stands 3" high. Vegetable ivory is carved from the coquilla nut which grows in South America.   It became very popular in the 19th century to use in making many different types of needlework tools.

There is a small hole in the velvet and it is missing some of its stuffing.  This is visable in the picture.  There is also some damage to the base of the pincushion which is unfortunately, not visable in the picture.                                                     $145.00.

Figural Pincushion - Made of brass and velvet, this lady in Elizabe- than costume is quite elegant. She stands 4 1/2" tall.   Sadly, she is missing her right hand, but there are no other condition problems.    The velvet is original and is in good condition.            $215.00

Etui - It is very unusual to find this type of lovely case made for steel tools.  This particular case is a beautiful dark wood with a small mother of pearl medallion on the top.  There are steel scissors, needlecase, stiletto, thimble and bodkin.  The thimble is particularly pretty with its faceted edges.

The needlecase, stiletto and thimble are original to the case,

but the scissors and the bodkin are replace ments. Actual-  ly, they are good replacements.  They fit well and they look good in the box.

The tools are all in excellent condition, as is the outside of the box.   The inside of the box is showing a bit of wear.  The button latch works well.       $485.00

Mother of Pearl Needle Casket -The rainbow of color in this lovely 19th century needle casket is truly stunning!   This beautiful little box would have held packets of needles perhaps for a professional seamstress or dressmaker.   The silver plate on the top is engraved with

the initials "EvP".   As Dutch names often have a lower case "van" between their first and last names, this probably belonged to a Dutch lady.                                                                        Unfortunately, these mother of pearl boxes are fragile and this one is showing a bit of wear.   The inside of the box is missing one of its dividers and the red lining is somewhat worn.  There is also a repair on the back of the box just below the hinge.   A rectangle-shaped piece of the mother of pearl has been replaced.    I don't think it detracts too much from the piece, especially as it is on the back.   The button closure works well.                                                                                              $365.00

Silver Etui - This beautiful two piece boxed set is circa 1880.  The scissors are original to the box and are very ornate silver.

The scissors are tight and the points are intact.  The thimble is a nice silver one but it is not original to the set.   The box is a deep burgundy leather with the initials " A E D" on the top.   The box latch is in good condition.  The silk lining on the inside of the lid is quite raveled, but the set still displays nicely when opened.                                                          $335.00
